The IMAA International Secretary has issued a press release confirming that the 2020 B&I Masters Cross Country is cancelled :
“Due to the current Covid 19 situation both here and in the UK we felt the best decision was to postpone the event in November. This decision was based on the following facts:
- The age profile of the athletes participating falls into the high risk category
- Outdoor events in Ireland is currently limited to 200, indoor events is 50.
- IMAA is bound by AAI rules and regulations and their website provides that “Overseas athletes can compete in Ireland if they have completed 14 days of self-isolation in Ireland prior to the event and have proof of travel dates.”
- Financial obligations have been deferred to 2021
While we are very disappointed not to be going ahead with the event this year we feel that it’s the right decision.
Having regard to the substantial preparatory work already carried out and to avoid incurring unnecessary costs we have now reached agreements with all parties concerned to host this event in 2021 ( November 13th ) subject to any Covid19 restrictions that may then apply.”
